National Maths Challenge for Year 8 Students
Almost 60 students from Year 8 participated in the UK Junior Maths Challenge at HBAED yesterday.
Designed by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust, the challenge consists of a lively and stimulating multiple choice question paper. For an hour in the assembly hall today, our most able young mathematicians struggled fiercely with some very tricky questions.
They were not alone. Now in its 20th year, the Maths Challenge attracts over 600,000 entrants from around the country. The top 40% of students nationally receive either a gold, silver or bronze certificate and each school also receives a 'Best in School' certificate.
Around 1200 of the highest scorers are invited to participate in the Junior Mathematical Olympiad. We wish our Year 8s luck as they await their results...
