Football - HBAED 2 Charter 1
On Thursday the Year 8 team played a friendly football match against The Charter School.
This match was used as an opportunity to blood some of our talented younger players who didn't quite make the Year 7 final squad and also to give some game time to those Year 8s who have been performing well at the Millwall FC coaching sessions.
Playing on the full size grass pitch at KCSG mean there was an abundance of space and we exploited that well with Vinoth and Abdur-Razzaq taking on the Charter full backs at every opportunity.
The opening goal came from Abdur-Razzaq and Jamil working hard down right to win the ball back before Abdur-Razzaq exploded into life taking on two players, getting to the by-line and then cutting the ball back to the six yard box for Kimani to slot past the keeper. 1-0.
Roney scored a well hit volley from the edge of the box shortly after but the goal was disallowed due to an alleged foul by Kimani during the build up. My opinion was it was good, strong centre forward hold up play!
In the second half Harvey started to dominate the midfield and improve his distribution. He was able to release Vinoth down the left wing who beat his man all ends up before drilling the ball into the box for Roney to finish emphatically. 2-0.
The Charter School scored a sensational individual consolation goal which our stand in keeper on the day, Esmail, could do nothing about.
