Year 10 - Harris Cup Final - HBAED 4 Greenwich 1
The Year 10 boys have won their first ever cup, running out 4-1 winners against Harris Greenwich.
After a fantastic season we took the journey over to Whytleafe FC on Monday morning for the game. You could see that our boys were on it from the start after a good warm up as we pumped the ball long from kick off and John snuck in around the back of his man and put his team 1 – 0 up. A perfect start!
Fantastic football
From there it was a great game. All credit to Greenwich who played fantastic football and dominated in the midfield for a lot of the first half, but Ibrahim, Connor, Dexter and Jordan kept us in the game with some solid defending. George in goal dealt with every cross with ease. We went into the break 1 – 0 up and wondering if we could break them down for the second.
The second half was a lot of backwards and forwards before a great ball from Amine set Enry free and he beautifully lobbed the keeper to put us 2 – 0 up. From kick off a mix up at the back let Greenwich into the game and we were back at 2-1 with 20 minutes left.
Save of the season
More drama as from kick off John surged forward and banged one in the top corner from 25 yards. 3-1 to us. At 3-1 George stepped up and made the save of the season. One-on-one six yards out, the ball was bouncing and the Greenwich striker hit the ball with conviction, as their whole team was turning around to celebrate George somehow managed to pick the ball out of the top corner – I could not believe my eyes!
We held out from a barrage of Greenwich onslaughts and then with 10 minutes to go Tyrell picked one up from 20 yards out and hit a half volley into the bottom corner. From there we were professional and confident in seeing out a 4-1 win, to see us win the Year 10 Harris Cup for the third year in a row!
Mr May
Man of the Match. Connor held it on absolute lock down at the back. He won absolutely everything.
Stepping up. George has been an amazing addition to the team this year. He kept us in the game.
