Football - Norwood School 4 HBAED 7
On Thursday the Year 8 football team played their final South London League game against the Norwood School.
After five minutes we went a goal down and off the back of a 3-0 loss last week it seemed like it might be another long day.
However, the team showed great character and came back strongly with Joshua winning and then converting a penalty, Tayo scoring a scissor kick from a corner, Lemar finishing a nice move and Romari getting rewarded for some dogged work on left wing with a tap in. 4 – 1 up at half time.
We conceded early again in the second half before going 5 – 2 up with the stand out moment of the game. Kenny, our centre back, asked to take a free kick from about 35 yards out. He lined up like Ronaldo, puffed out his chest and then unleased a venomous shot into the top corner past a diving goal keeper. One of the best free kicks I have seen at this standard.
We conceded two more soft goals but replied with two very good goals to finish 7-4 victors: Lemar scoring the sixth with a tidy finish after a great flick on from Joshua in the midfield and Kenny getting his second with a strong header from Joshua's corner.
Man of the match
Kenny scored a Ronaldo-esque free kick and then a bullet header from a corner. A brilliant brace from centre back.
Stepping up
Bilal came back into the side and won the ball back for us many times, providing security for the defence.
