Sixth Formers Discover Apprenticeship Opportunities at Guildhall Careers Event
Students attending the Sixth Form at Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich were invited to attend an apprenticeship and work placement careers fair held at London Guildhall.
This event was part of the many opportunities offered across the capital during London’s Careers Week. Students had the opportunity to speak to employers about their future career paths and gain an insight into how an apprenticeship works.
Ruhela (Year 12) writes...
The apprenticeship trip held at the Guildhall was a very good opportunity for me to find out about the many different apprenticeship offers by companies such as IBM, Google, and Bloomberg.
For the future, I wish to go into working in computer science, which is a vast subject, covering many topics that I am interested in, and of all fields it has the greatest implications for the future of society.
I was very lucky to find apprenticeship placements in fields such as software development and software engineering by Google. This particular apprenticeship offer really appealed to me because Google is a multinational organisation built around the company’s hugely popular search engine and to be able to work with them is the greatest opportunity.
Another company which attracted me was IBM. IBM are a global technology company that provides hardware, software, cloud-based services and intellectual computing. Overall, I thought this trip was very beneficial to me and gave me more thought about the different apprenticeships I am able to get into.
