HBAED in Top 20 UK Schools, According to New Index
HBAED is in the top 20 schools in the UK, according to the Fair Secondary School Index – a new way of measuring students’ progress which aims to take their backgrounds into account.
The index, based on research carried out at Bristol University, looks at pupils' age, gender, ethnicity, English as an additional language, special educational needs , free school meals status and residential deprivation, as well their Progress 8 score.
Progress 8, which is currently the main measure used by the government, measures students’ progress between the end of primary school and the end of Year 11, when they sit their GCSEs.
The authors of the new index argue that more details about pupils' backgrounds should be taken into account when compiling data for secondary school league tables in England.
HBEAD was in the top 2% of schools in 2017-18 for Progress 8. We are also proud to have been honoured in the UK Social Mobility Awards Roll of Honour 2019.
