Career Ready Mentoring Programme for Year 12
Year 12 students on the Career Ready Mentoring Programme have received additional support to help them make informed decisions about their future education and careers.
Students benefitted from hour-long meetings with employees from companies such as Silicon Valley Bank, 3i Group plc, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, British Land and Aon UK Limited.
Conversations focused on a different aspect of the student’s career and education journey.
Shiam, Year 12, was mentored by a chief financial officer. "After speaking with my mentor, I feel more confident with speaking to professional people with highly respected jobs," he said. "When I got to know my mentor and shared our interests and hobbies, I realised that we share a lot of common interests which has made it a lot easier for me to make connections. From talking to him, I learnt that it’s important to make the right choice because others like him pursued a course at university but decided to get a job in a different sector."
Mirdha, also Year 12, learned that it is fine to be unclear about future career directions "as long as you work hard at everything you do. My mentor started out as an engineer but is now a CEO."
Thank you to all the employees who gave up their time to help our students in this way.
