Student Leadership Team Present Their Views to Staff Leaders
Last term, our student leadership team rounded up suggestions and organised surveys across Key Stages 3 and 4, to enable the students' voices and opinions to be heard.
On the 6th February, Head Boy Diego (Year 10) and Hub Representative Nathaniel (Year 8) delivered their findings and reports to an eager Senior Leadership Team (see picture), including Principal Mr Groves.
Initially, this was a daunting task, as students confronted elements in the school they would like to change and areas where they would like to see progress. Both Diego and Nathaniel took the challenge in their stride and demonstrated curiosity, confidence and resilience as they answered questions as well as probed for answers and actions moving forward.
After a successful meeting and discussion, the Student Leadership Team’s ambitious requests were met with many positive agreements. These include:
- Funding for a loan system for sports equipment: boys that do not have the means to buy their own table tennis bats can use them on a loan basis, similar to our library system
- Ensuring revision materials are uploaded regularly onto the school website as well as an agreement that teachers will use the student SharePoint to upload key materials and PowerPoints for student to access, to encourage Independent learning
- Refurbishment of the toilets on ground floor
- Cultural Spanish trips or engagement in Spanish culture
- Discontinuing of the science rotation for Year 10 following a successful discontinuation for the Year 11s.
These are but a few of the implementations that will be taking place over the coming weeks, there will be further updates following further discussions.
