Year 8 workshop on Toxic Masculinity
Year 8 Boys participated in a workshop on 'Toxic Masculinity' recently, provided by Action Break Silence.
The boys learned about some of the stereotypes around males and females and considered how this influenced behaviours and expectations in society.
Jaiden learnt about patriarchy, noting that "society sometimes expects men and women to take on certain roles at the workplace and at home and we learned how this is unhelpful - the focus should be on equality".
Richmond reflected that "some people expect males to be tough and to be aggressive when faced with confrontation. We learned de-escalation techniques and how to handle conflict safely and assertively."
