HBAED Set Sights On South London Success
HBAED have not had it easy in the current season, but Year 11 were determined to make an impact in the South London Cup; a competition in which they reached the final the previous year.
From the first whistle the fire that HBAED are recognised for came back, with relentless pressure making Charter North scared for the next 70 minutes of football. However, trauma struck when a sloppy penalty was awarded to the opposition. The situation was one of nightmares. However, have no fear, Gabriel is here to SAVE the day by outstretching his right hand. The football being played was similar to Barcelona of old, the only thing missing was the goal. That did not take long, after a foul was made inside the Charter North box, Louie thought it was time to make it 2 from 2 from the penalty spot. All eyes on him, he stepped up and confidently stroked the ball into the bottom right corner.
The game came alive and it seemed both teams weren’t backing down, with Devontae and Elliot proving to be unbeatable in defence, and Nana chasing everything down in attack. First half over, 1-0 HBAED.
The confidence was pouring through the veins in every HBAED player as they showed domination in the second half of the match with everything going right, apart from the finishing touch. The second goal was imminent, with Gody latching onto the ball, dribbling at the defence, and squared the ball to Nana who regardless of his injury, still found the determination to make it 2-0.
The rest of the game proved to be difficult with Charter North creating chances, but HBAED stood strong and finished off the game with a convincing display. FULL TIME: HBAED 2-0 CHARTER NORTH.
Special mention must be awarded to Elliot, who stepped in as centre back, shown a tremendous display of defending, and not afraid to make the hard tackles and assert his dominance in the game
