Under 15 Footballers Lift Harris Cup
Another trip for the Under 15 football team saw as play at the prestigious Cobham, home of Chelsea FC’s training facilities, in the final of the Harris Cup against Beckenham.
Harris Beckenham managed to get to the ground with plenty of time for strong preparation and this showed within the first 10 minutes as they were out of the blocks fast. Harris Boys absorbed this pressure well, managing to take momentum back using the formidable high press.
A cut through ball from Idris, allowed Dylan to be placed in behind the defence and score a rocket of a shot into the top corner. He then followed this up by a stunning top class free kick from over 30 yards out. The midfield of Dario and Abdul combined again with Idris to set Daniel through who put it on a plate for Jesse to tap the ball home before half time.
The second half was more of the same, with Beckenham flying forward and taking two goals back. However Harris Boys kept composure and Year 9 Israel played around the defender on their own baseline to set up Abdul for a calm finish from in front of goal.
Finally lifting the trophy
Jesse stormed through from the middle of the park to smash in a screamer to put the game to bed. Beckenham took their foot off the gas for a late goal from captain Idris, who found a dipping low cross elude everyone and find itself in the side netting. The result finished 6-2 to Harris Boys'.
The team looked very solid and at its peak to finally lift the trophy they have been in the hunt for the past three and a half years. Thank you to all the staff who supported this cup run.
